Welcome to Pack 55. We
welcome kids from ALL of Upper township and the surrounding areas.
Kids love it because they can do all kinds of fun things with their
friends. Parents love it
because their kids are in a safe, secure, and structured learning
environment.
The programs are
divided into "Dens" according to age groups, from Kindergarten to 4th
Grade. Each den meets on their own schedule, usually once a week.
Once a month, the entire pack meets for a big activity.

K-Kub Lions enjoyed a Basketball Game at
Ocean City High School as part of their Family Go-See-It. They
learned about what to do if they are lost in public, and to learn about
organized activities. When we say
"Go-See-It", they DO!
RRRROAR LIONS!!
What a great bunch of kids we have!
Pack 55 has about 35 kids from Kindergarten to
age 10. Although we
meet in Tuckahoe, we invite kids from
all over Upper Township and the
surrounding communities to join.
In Cub Scouting you'll have lots of fun,
adventure, and activities with your den and pack. But there's more to it than
that. Being a Cub Scout means you are a member of a worldwide youth movement
that stands for certain values and beliefs. Cub Scouting is more than something
to do. It's all about the boy you are and the person you will become.
Special Guest at January 20th

We welcomed Mr. and Mrs. Totten, local
falconers, with their birds and demonstrated their special talents!
(I think there is still some rabbit fur around!)

Race Feb 13 Community Center-
Registration, weigh-in, and inspection 11:30-12:00
Racing begins at 12:30.
You should allow enough time to make any
adjustments, add or remove weight, and add any lubricant.
At the December Pack Meeting, each Scout was
given a pinewood derby kit, that contained a block of wood, 4
wheels, 4 nails (axles) and some stickers. From this
kit, scouts can build a car that they will race down our track!
It looks a lot harder than it is, and we are here to help!
The first thing that a Cub Scout should do, is
trace the block of wood onto a piece of paper, and mark the
location of the wheels. You can photocopy it so you can
experiment on many designs. Using that template, he can
draw out what you want the car to look like.
You can just bring that paper, and all the
parts to the workshop, and we will help you cut it out, shape
it, and attach the wheels. Your son can then decorate the
car on his own, and bring it to the race.
Pinewood cars can be as simple as a coupe, or
as complex as a dragster. Some kids have even made derby
cars that don't look like cars.... Wii remotes, french fries,
boats, etc.. There is also a best of show award given.
This year, we are answering a challenge issued
by the local Girl Scouts, who actually believe they have a
chance beating us. Imagine that! It's going to be an
intermission race to remember.
You can Google "Pinewood Derby" and you will
get hundreds of ideas.

Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser
planned
Feb 27th, 4:00 - 8:00, TVFC or Take-Out
Adults $8, Kids $6, under 5 FREE!
Each scout family will be given a ticket
book, to sell tickets to friends and family. Details will be given
out at the pack meeting, but suffice to say it is important that we have
a good turnout. We are in tough times, and we need to build our
treasury to continue to do cool things! Parents
are asked to bring a deserts.
Overnight event planned! We are going to spend the night in the
popular Jacob's Cabin, in Steelmantown for an evening of junk food,
sitting in front of the fireplace, playing games, and watching DVDs.
This is always a lot of fun! For a parent and child (it is pretty
small, so we are asking that it is just for scouts unless it causes a
problem).
Check out the WeBeLos II Puppet Show!
They created this as part of their Showman pin!! Nice
Job kids!
